Nothing is safe from cyberland

Paul has been gone for 3 days at the AOSA Conference (for you non-music geeks, that’s American Orff Schulwerk Association Conference) in Spokane, WA. I have to admit, I’m a bit jealous – he gets to go for a few days to a beautiful city in the Pacific NW (my new favorite area of the US) to have a weekend of fun, dancing, and debauchery with his music teacher friends. The wife, not having a financially feasible reason to go, gets to stay home and clean the entire house for another rental management company meeting. Yay.

So one of the big things about the conference this year is that my brilliant teacher hubby has applied and been accepted as an apprentice for AOSA. This means he will eventually be the one teaching the teachers, a pretty high honor to have. The final make-it-or-break-it step in the decision process is that he must teach a lesson to a panel of his instructors to show his level of skill. That’s not intimidating or anything, right? Well, as I knew would happen, he passed with flying colors (way to go babe!). The unfortunate thing about the timing with this is that he really wanted to do his apprenticeship at MSU in Dallas (which by the way would have been perfect as my cousin Pete lives about 2 miles from there). The bad part? Their session is smack dab in the middle of June. Not a good time for hubby to leave home for 2 weeks – with a wife almost full term. So Paul will have to make alternate arrangements. But as one of the instructors observing his lesson is an instructor at SMU, part of his conversation had to include his plans and an explanation about why it is he couldn’t attend SMU in June, which he was so excited about doing. So he had to spill the beans. Well, once the news spilled out to one or two people, it quickly spread around the conference. So now, god knows how many people now know. Thinking this was pretty harmless, everyone being in Spokane, Paul went on with his conference.

So about 2 days later, where does the news show up? FACEBOOK! Exactly what we were trying to avoid. Luckily, Paul quickly deleted the post before too many folks saw it. Phew! Just goes to show you – nothing is safe from cyberland! We're still waiting to tell a few people in person and until after my first trimester. I think we'll probably announce the big news around Christmas or NYE, if we can keep it quiet for that long! :)
