Well, cousins, the pressure's off!

Well, the time has come to start packing for our big move next week. This is the weekend for packing, with only a short break for a GIGANTIC family Thanksgiving celebration on Saturday afternoon at the Legion in Bayport. Packing was pretty uneventful, although stressful as I can’t really pick up any boxes, so Paul’s got the job of moving all the boxes that I’ve packed into a location where it won’t be in the way. Random thought - speaking of the house, the inspection on the furnace came back with cracks in the heat exchanger. Which means, we get a FREE NEW FURNACE! How did we get so lucky? It's already installed - sweet!

Saturday at Thanksgiving we had decided that we will finally spill the beans to the family about our news (and hope it doesn't get us in trouble on FB). Mary, Lisa and Becky already knew the news (Mom was DYING to tell someone). So, last weekend Liz had given me a spare button that she had picked up at the State Fair this summer that read “Bun in the Oven”. Instead of having to awkwardly tell everyone our news in some creative way, I thought that I might just wear the button. To be honest, when it comes to telling people, it’s actually a little embarrassing, especially with how long everyone in the family has been taking bets on which cousin will be the “FIRST.”
My mom finally convinced me to put the button on and she proceeded to send every member of the family over to “read the button.” (I love my Mom!) So it was pretty fun to hear everyone’s reactions. I got a lot of “Really?!” and congratulations and it was all in all pretty fun. We had to remind everyone not to say anything on FB to keep it off cyber space still, but it feels pretty good that folks now know (and I think Mom is relieved to have someone to talk to about it.) I also think there were a couple of very relieved cousins that finally have the pressure off them (for the time being, at least), with the aunts' thirst for grand-babies being satiated for the time being.

We went home and continued to pack. Hopefully we’ll have some help with the packing tomorrow! :)
