Headache be GONE!

One of the lesser common pregnancy symptoms that they don't tell you about is that hormones can make your nasal cavity swell up. This causes sinus headaches and stuffy (if not bloody) noses. Frankly, I was completely spoiled my first Trimester with almost no morning sickness. I sort of knew in my subconscious that I wasn't going to get off that easily.

My major symptoms have surfaced in the form of cramp-like pain (growing pains) and this whole swelling of my sinus cavity. The result has been some MONSTER headaches that no drug (at least nothing I can take) will touch. For some reason, these headaches only seem to come about on Saturdays. Gee... thanks. Ruin my day off.

On Friday, I had some pains in my abdomen that were so severe it caused me to call the doctor's office. They suggested that I drink water and rest and if they don't go away or get worse, to go in. So I did just that on Friday night - I chugged water like it was going out of style and spent the night laying on the couch. Unfortunately, Paul made a dinner that while I'm sure it was delicious, but smelled so buttery that it was making me sick. Funny thing is, it had NO butter in it. It was red curry beef with coconut milk. How odd! Paul did admit that it wasn't just my crazy pregnancy stuff, it did smell buttery, almost like beef stroganoff, in fact. So my dinner on Friday night was a box of Kraft Mac n Cheese. Yup, I still love the stuff, and apparently sometimes its the ONLY think I can even consider eating.

I went to bed and woke up on Saturday. My abdomen pains were gone, but guess what - my headache was back. I basically spent the entire day in bed. I could barely even eat anything! I watched a few movies and realized that what I really wanted was a burger. And a big ice cream sunday. So I texted Paul (who was at a workshop all day) who made like a good hubby and stopped to get me a cheeseburger, fries and a turtle sunday from culvers on the way home. HOORAY! He got home and I scarfed that food down so fast - I was SO hungry!

Energized by my recent meal, it was time to give this headache the 1-2 punch. So I had Paul make me a cup of caffeinated tea and I took a Tylenol. Then we ran out to get a new light fixture for the kitchen (on Paul's bucket list for this weekend) and stopped at Cub. I decided I was going to try the breathe right nasal strips and see if they would relieve some of the pressure. Low and behold, these might just be the miracle cure. Headache gone instantly!

So, don't be surprised if at some point in the next 6 months you see me and I have a silly nasal strip on my nose. I don't have a zit, I don't have a cut, and I'm not snoring, just using the only method I've found so far that can relieve what have been the worst headaches of my life.

Oh, and we've got a new kitchen light fixture! Goodbye, terrible florescent lighting - I'm sorry, we never liked you and didn't ever turn you on. I hope you find a good home someday.
