Happy Christmas Eve, everyone!
Paul and I are busy getting the house ready for my entire family to come over (all 30 of them). I hope it doesn't get to crowded in here, but I think we'll be okay. Worst case scenario, up to 8 people can fit in the hot tub, right?
Yesterday was a FABULOUS day!
First off, my sister finally made it in from CA early yesterday morning. I'm so happy to have her home. I wish my brother-in-law could have come too, but he's got a fun trip to Vegas planned over Christmas. Enjoy, man!
I had a quick half day at work where I got a few things done and cleaned up my old and new desks. It will feel good to go back to a clean work area in Jan. Paul and I got a great deal on wine from a wine club we joined on our PDX/CA trip in August. They had free shipping and we get 30% off, so we ended up getting 2 cases of wine for our Christmas Eve & NY parties. I was a little nervous it wasn't going to arrive in time, but it made it even before I left work. Felt odd to have 2 cases of wine delivered to work, but someone 21+ had to sign for it.
Then Paul and I went off to my Dr. Apt. I really love my doctor. She's funny, sarcastic, and very realistic. She and I and Paul are going to get along great. I wish that we were guaranteed that she could deliver the baby, but the hospital really goes with whoever is on call at that point. Makes me sort of want them to induce me so I can have her deliver it. They're in a brand new office, so we had to wait about an hour for a 15 minute appointment, but it was all made better when we got to hear the baby's heartbeat again. It's pretty thrilling (and no radio signals were picked up like the last time). Everything sounded good and I had my page of questions answered and we were on our way.
We stopped by Target and picked up a replacement digital camera to replace the one we lost in the move. I will have pictures of Christmas, dang it! We picked up the Canon PowerShot SD1300 and are pretty happy with it so far.
We headed off to bells and then straight out to Stillwater to meet my mom and Sister at Meister's for a burger. If you have never experienced a MeisterBurger, you are missing out. It is a GREASY burger covered in bacon bits and melted cheese and is best with fried onions on it. That plus some fries and cheese curds and we were in heaven.
Here's the weird thing about food in pregnancy. The stuff you should be eating is all of this healthy food. Paul cooks pretty healthily, so I've had my share of good food. In fact, between my first and second appointment, I lost 7 lbs. This is not one of the times that you are supposed to be losing weight (I think it has a lot to do with the lost calories from not drinking). Well, at my appointment yesterday I was doing better, I only lost 1 lb this time. But, I sort of made the realization that I've really been holding back on eating bad stuff, so I was HUNGRY! I've earned a treat!
For most meals, I get about half-way through and just can't eat any more. I feel like I might lose my lunch if I do. But for some reason, when I had the big fatty meisterburger last night, I couldn't get enough! I ate almost the whole thing, plus a huge amount of cheese curds and fries. And I felt GREAT! Better than I have in MONTHS! I was able to eat, and eat, and eat for the first meal in 2 months. And funny thing, all of my cramps that I had earlier in the evening were suddenly gone.
I got up this morning and Paul made me some eggs and toast and OJ. It was back to normal - half way through I felt like I couldn't choke down another bite. Guess baby likes burgers. (Mom does too.)
